The Israel of God
Some months ago a friend who knows that I sometimes write short articles suggested I consider writing on the subject of Israel in the Bible. He lives in the States and I know the background to his prompting was because many Christians in the States have a very strong interest in the nation of Israel today. They believe, because of their understanding of Biblical prophecy, that Israel has yet a very significant role to play in world history. This seems to be leading some Christians to be perhaps overly supportive of the present State of Israel.
The place of Israel in the Bible and her future is of course not only a large subject but also a very controversial one . Despite my friend’s confidence I know I don’t have the ability to unravel the issues so I am not going to try. I intend to simply supply a few pointers that may be helpful when thinking about the topic on a larger scale.
