Sermon: Hebs 13 Strengthened by Grace

Strengthened by Grace

Hebs 13:9

Lovely to share fellowship with you folks here. Many
of us enjoyed a lovely night at the wedding. But life is
of course not all weddings and happiness.

We have gathered here to worship God and remember
the Lord but how many of our minds have been
distracted by things in life that worry us and bother us.
Some of us in life have a low sense of our value/our
worth. It is difficult to worship when we are feeling of
no worth.

Sometimes we find it difficult to worship because of a
sense of guilt that wracks us.

Perhaps we’ve been thinking about how our children
are not growing as Christians as we feel they should.
Or perhaps its simply that the problems and difficulties
of our life are so overwhelming that we loose sight of
the Lord altogether or perhaps if we think of Him it is
as someone threatening, someone punishing.

The list is endless. Why do we think like this as a
Christian? Why do things, even simply trying to be
Christian, get on top of us?

Well you know the answer in one sense is simple. It is
because we lose sight of the fact that the gospel is really
just one word - GRACE. Our relationship with God
whatever stage of life we are at, and from whichever
angle it we look at it - is a relationship of grace. In life
everything that we will ever experience flows from
grace. It is grace from first to last.

About John

Hi there - I am a member of Greenview and have been for over 20 years. For a number of these years I functioned as an elder, however, indifferent health forced me to take more of a back seat. I see this as an opportunity to do a little writing, often focussing on issues that are a matter of evangelical debate today. Naturally the views expressed are my own and may not reflect the views of the elders or church at large, though differences are likely to be in the detail and not the substance.

These articles and sermons were written partly to clarify my own thoughts and partly with the intention of provoking thought in others who may read them. If you read one I hope you find it stimulating. Please feel free to give me feedback or discuss my articles in the forums.
