Sermon: Acts 17 Do all Religions lead to God
Do all religions lead to God?
Acts 17:16,22-34
In the last 50 years our world has shrunk. Progress in
technology and travel means that our neighbour no
longer lives next door he lives on another continent. As
a result the cultures and religions of other countries
press in on us as never before.
In addition Britain itself is now multicultural and multi
religious. Even if the established faith is still
Christianity, in reality every other faith is represented
as well. My immediate neighbours are Muslim in faith.
A few doors down the household are Sikh. A friend I
taught beside was a Hindu. These are only three
examples of religious belief in Glasgow today.
So many different religions on our doorstep of course
make the question more urgent than ever before for
Christians- Is my faith true? Are all these other
religions held by millions of people, educated and
cultured people, are they all wrong?
The politically correct answer of course, is no they are
not all wrong. Not at all. All religions we are told
contribute to truth. All religions are equally valid. All
are to be celebrated for all lead to God and salvation.
And accompanying this credo comes the only slightly
veiled threat that we must learn this if our world is to
live at peace and prosper. The label for this dogma is
pluralism

About John
Hi there - I am a member of Greenview and have been for over 20 years. For a number of these years I functioned as an elder, however, indifferent health forced me to take more of a back seat. I see this as an opportunity to do a little writing, often focussing on issues that are a matter of evangelical debate today. Naturally the views expressed are my own and may not reflect the views of the elders or church at large, though differences are likely to be in the detail and not the substance.
These articles and sermons were written partly to clarify my own thoughts and partly with the intention of provoking thought in others who may read them. If you read one I hope you find it stimulating. Please feel free to give me feedback or discuss my articles in the forums.
